May Favorites + A Look In My Journal

Hello everyone! x

This month I have favorites ranging from beauty, to fashion, to music. I also added some incite from my journal. I thought it would be a nice feature to add. I have a list of some writing territories as well as some poetry.
// Beauty //

Foot Scrub: Over the winter season while at Kohls, I found this foot scrub for a super cheap price. I love H2O products so I decided to try it. I love this product. Before giving myself a pedicure I take a long, hot bath and apply this to my feet. The only downfall is that it doesn’t rinse out of the tub easily. (I'm considering on doing a review on some H2O+ products. I can definitely see a difference in texture on my skin.)

Beauty Blender: Lately, I've been crammed with final exams, my makeup isn't as high of a priority as it was back in the fall. To still look put together I use my pink beauty blender from ULTA. It makes the application of my foundation so much faster and ensures that there are no streaks. Who wants that on their face?

Color Tattoo Eyeshadow: Again, as the end of the year approaches my laziness is increasing. (I know it's not a very good combination, but I'm fried.) I use this eyeshadow to give me a little bit of a boost in the morning. It draws attention to my eyes while distracting from those dark circles.

// Fashion //

Michael Kors Flip-Flops: For Easter, my mom surprised my sister and I with not only our favorite chocolates, but a pair of Michael Kors Flip-Flops. She also got us a gift certificate to get our toes done. (I’m planning on getting mine done later in June before I go to Disney World.) I’ve been wearing these flip-flops quite often. They go with everything!

Navy Blue V-Neck: I must have worn this shirt four times this month. It is by far one of my favorites due to it's versatility. I bought it from PacSun last summer.

// Music //

This month I've been listening to a lot of pop music. Overall, my favorite artist this month is Sabrina Carpenter. Her latest album, "Eyes Wide Open" is absolutely incredible.

Somebody by Natalie La Rose ft. Jeremih- This is my clubbing song. Whenever it comes on the radio I am instantly jamming.

Can We Dance by The Vamps- For those days when I bump into my crush and I made a fool out of myself. It's such a sweet song.

Butterflies by Sammi Sanchez- I love, love, love this song! I can tell it's going to be my new summer jam!

Whistle (While you Work It) by Katy Tiz- Thank goodness the school year is almost over. I'm so ready.

// Other //

My Journal: In the beginning of April I made it an effort to start writing in my journal more often. I got this notebook a few months back. I believe I got it in the beginning of the year at a discount price at Big Lots. They have a ton of Taylor Swift notebooks; I simply couldn’t resist. What better to write down inspiring thoughts then in a notebook with pure inspiration on the cover?

A Look In My Journal

One of my goals for spring included writing in my journal more often, specifically creatively. I actually manage to compose in it really often throughout April and May.

One of my favorite social media platforms, Pinterest, played a major role in helping me plan my journal. I looked up different writing prompts to inspire me. I even worked on building a poem called "Artist," which I featured in a previous blog post.

Here's a look in my journal:

In the beginning of all of my notebooks I like to make a list of writing territories. This helps me if I ever get writers block- we've all been there.

Word choice is very important in poetry. I try to find different words to experiment within my writing.

Here is something I'm currently playing with:

Slit my throat and cut me to the core,
Never did I crave anything more.

I'd rather feel something rather than nothing at all,
Burning our memories while staring at these faded walls.

Remember when I hung my love on those November trees?
Then the leaves lost their color like you lost your love for me.

The only thing I know is:
Your navy sweater, my silver necklace, Paris past curfew, our midnight texts, 2 AM giggles, and the colors when we kissed.

The only thing you know is:
Christmas lights, history notes, my little black dress, magic tricks, my sister's name, and the colors when we kissed.

I will see you again.
I will see you again.

Poetry is a great way for me to express myself. My poems are all typically about people. People have the most influence on my emotions. That's exactly what I described in my poem above. Color is magical. Autumn is such a beautiful time of year because of the leaves. Their brightness inspires creativity. Black and white is a definition of darkness. When I was with him, I felt like I was living an adventure because I had never experienced anything like it before.

How do you express yourself?

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I love sharing personal things- like my journal- with you guys. Thanks for reading,

Collab // What's In My Purse? (Spring Edition)

Hi everyone! x

My last "What's In My Purse?" post was back in December and it featured all of my winter essentials. During the winter months I tend to stock up on everything! Now that it's spring I don't have to carry a pair of gloves, countless mauve lipsticks, and peppermint hand cream. I carry a much smaller purse now so I keep it down to a minimum.

*This is also a collaboration with my good friend Christina over at This Fashion Girl. You should most definitely check her out. I will have all of her links at the end of this post. Enjoy! x

This is a navy cross body with gold hardware by Michael Kors. I absolutely love this purse for the spring season. It's very classic purse and adds a pop of color for those days when I wear neutral colors.

// My Wallet //

This wallet is from Michael Kors. It is quite big- which is something I love about it. It really helps me stay organized. I can also use it as a clutch for those Friday nights out with my friends.

Here's a sneak peak at some of the random things in my wallet:
  • Old receipts
  • Bobby pin and hair tie
  • Coupons
  • Cards (Not shown for privacy reasons)
  • Gift cards (Not shown)
  • Cash for food (Not shown)

// Lip Products //

I'm you average teenage girl, I touch up my lipgloss at least twice a day. I love this color because it goes with any look I'm trying to pull off. (I literally accumulate 4 lip glosses in my purse by the end of the week. It's a serious problem.)

I also like to carry my EOS lip balm in "Mint" as well as this Aquaphor lip repair treatment. It's really helped smooth my lips after that harsh winter season.

// Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets & CG Pressed Powder //

These oil absorbing sheets are a must for me with the heat and my natural oily skin. I use these before my lunch period to keep me from looking shiny- sometimes.

For an extra touchup, I like to carry an extra powder around with me. It's helpful if I need the coverage too. I typically don't find myself reapplying powder during the day, but it's a nice basic to have especially when I'm out for the whole day- shopping, family function, etc.

// Headphones //

I never go anywhere without my headphones. When I'm on the bus I like to block out the kids making corny jokes, when I'm in the car I like to block out my mom's jams from the 80s. You know? So very helpful.

// Ring of Index Cards //

Ever since the beginning of the second semester I've accumulated different writing tips from my creative writing adviser. She suggested carrying around a ring of index cards to write down ideas since inspiration is all around us.

// Randoms //

It's allergy season. Enough said.

I didn't clean out my purse so I also had raffle tickets and my ticket to get into a talent show at my school a few weeks ago. It was absolutely hilarious. I had such a good time!

Get Ready With Me: A Day In Spring

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the spring season. It feels marvelous outside. This was literally the weather outside:

Today I'm going to be sharing with you a Get Ready With Me post during the spring season.

// Makeup //

My outfit was very casual, so I kept my makeup light as well. A simply clean foundation with a subtle glow on my cheeks.
  • Clinique Oil Free Stay Matte Foundation
  • Neutrogena Skin Clearing Blemish Concealer
  • CoverGirl Oil Control Powder
  • Physicians Formula Blush (Natural)
  • Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadow in Barely Brazen
  • Eyelash Curler: ELF
  • Calvin Klein Mascara- this is my new holy grail mascara
  • Spring Fling Lip Gloss

// Hair //

In the morning, I can be so lazy! I decided to apply heat protectant to my hair and simply straighten it. It takes me about 10-15 minutes since my hair is pretty manageable.

// Outfit //

Please excuse the bruises on my legs from previous soccer games. They look awful.

Outfit Details-
V-Neck: Pacsun

I love the simplicity and versatility of this shirt. I purchased it back in July and I've been able to wear it every season. Towards the end of the summer I paired it with distressed capris, as fall approached I threw a cardigan over it. For the winter months, I threw on a chunky scarf and knee high boots. It's the perfect basic tee. (Plus it was a lot cheaper than Brandy Melville's!)

Skirt: Abercrombie

I love Abercrombie's clothing- it's expensive, but it lasts. I'll take quality over quantity any day. This was something I picked up on the clearance rack for the spring and summer months. It's super cute!

Sandals: Aeropostale

These shoes are from my 6th grade graduation. Surprisingly I stand about the same height. Anyway, the fact that their brown with silver accents is perfect. They go with anything and everything! (Maine Attraction by ULTA is the nail color on my toes.)

Earrings: Claires

They're little silver crosses. I hate changing up my earrings throughout the week.

Neckless: Jared Jewelers

I got this two years ago. I'm absolutely in love with it. It's super cute!

Hair Tie: Target

This was featured in one of my previous monthly favorites posts.

Getting Over A Breakup + Things I Look In A Guy + DIY

"Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you."

I've learned that everything happens for a reason- even the hardest things in life. Breakups are one of those things that are sometimes hard to understand. I've went through two breakups, and the exciting part about both of them is that I am here with you to share my stories.

// Get Over Him & Start Fresh //

1. Know that the pain will pass.
I had my first real boyfriend in ninth grade. When he broke up with me I totally lost it. I thought that there were a million and one things wrong with me. After two weeks of pure torture in the hallways I realized there was nothing wrong with me. Eventually after dealing with it in a healthy manner, my confidence came back to me.

2. Exercise!
This is how I gained my confidence back fast. Working out after school really boosted my self-esteem. Running on the treadmill while listening to some vengeful songs really got my heart pumping. I couldn't wait to slip into a pair of skinny jeans the next day!

3. Shop 'til ya drop.
I have such a bad habit of doing this, but it works. The day after a breakup I typically hit up the mall- whether it's splurging on a few Abercrombie sweaters or buying a new lipstick. Changing up your look can make you feel desirable. Gaining back confidence is very important.

4. Go on a 30-day cleanse.
I found this tip on Cosmo. In order to get over them you need to detach from them. Unfriend/Unfollow them on all social media- don't worry about the girl he decides to play next, indulge in yourself! Go out to dinner with your family, hit up the mall with your friends, take walks in your local park, etc. You're proving to yourself that you can live without him.

// What I Look For //

The more boys I talk to the higher my standards become. I've promised myself that I'm never going to settle for anything less. I deserve what I deserve and you do to!

"The More Boys I Meet" by Carrie Underwood

1. Physical attraction does play a role.
I'm not expecting my guy to look like Ryan Gosling, but I expect him to have good hygiene, a decent fashion sense, and personal health. Those are all things he can control.

2. Open and honest.
A relationship is going to go nowhere if one isn't honest with the other. Communication is key.

3. Have a specific talent.
Whether you're the track star or a shy poet, I want to know that he puts his time into something that means a lot to him. If he just spends his nights at home on the couch texting his friends that simply doesn't appeal to me.

4. Good morals.
I have no intentions on putting time into a relationship where the guy only wants to do sexual things, smoke pot, drink alcohol, etc. I'm just not interested. I want someone who has strong religious beliefs because religion is very important to me. This also means that he should respect me. When I tell him I'm not ready for the next step he should respect that. If he doesn't want to stay, then that's his loss not mine.

5. Be smart.
I'm not saying he should be the governor of Pennsylvania, but he should most certainly put effort into his classes. Getting C's in academic classes shows that he has no determination. When a guy takes honor and AP level courses he shows he cares about his future.

6. Confidence is key- always remember that.
When someone is confident in who they are it makes it easier for me to be in confident in who they are. I watch people in my school walk in the hallways. Some people walk with a "swag" as some people say, those are the type of people who you see light in. Others you can tell that they're not as confident in themselves as they should be.

// A Simple DIY Project //

For Christmas one of my friend's put together a happiness jar. She told me to read the little notes inside of it whenever I was feeling down. In the beginning of February I went through my second breakup. A friend came over and we went through the notes together. It put a smile on my face and made me laugh. I absolutely loved it. If you know someone who is going through a breakup or who is depressed, this simple DIY project will certainly make them smile. You can even make one for yourself- include your talents, hobbies, interests, personal achievements, and anything else that you love about yourself. (I would totally do that!)

What You'll Need:
  • Mason jar
  • Construction paper
  • Sharpies
  • Scissors

You Matter!
Be proud of who you are, not ashamed of how someone else sees you!
Do what makes YOU happy.

Yes, it's hard to get over a breakup. Whether you dated him for a month or three years- it's hard when the feelings were real. It took me forever to get over my first boyfriend- the fact that I saw him everyday in the hallways didn't help much either, but eventually I moved on. Months, and months passed before I engaged in a new relationship. For the record, I recommend not dating your best friend; it doesn't end like the movies- at least for me. Now I'm avoided. Yeah, it's pretty sad reflecting on it months later, but things happen for a reason; that's what I tell myself whenever I reminisce on the good times we shared. Even if you guys weren't best friends be sure to reflect on it positively. Having that type of mindset is brilliant.
