Baking with Grandma

Hello everyone,

I am super excited to announce that I am doing a collab with some of my favorite fellow bloggers. We've all decided to share with you our favorite Christmas cookie recipe.

I am a sucker for chocolate chip cookies. My grandmother's are the best! On Saturday, we spent the day baking.

Please note, this recipe came from the NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Morsels package; I own nothing.

  • 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) of butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12 oz pkg.) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  • flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels (and nuts). Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. (Personally, I just made the balls with clean hands. I found it inconvenient.)
  • for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
I placed about a dozen cookies on a tray. It took them about 10 minutes to make. This recipe makes approximately 60 cookies. (I made some cookies a little bit larger, so I only got 51 out of the mix.)

And here is the final product:

I recommend eating them right after they cool- that way they're still warm. Delicious!

My grandmother purchased some cookies to simply decorate. She knows what a Pinterest junkie I am. I've been showing her some cute Christmas cookie decorating ideas.

I decided to test them out below:

By no means am I an expert. This was my first time working with icing. I've never really decorated with more than sprinkles before. I think they turned out cute though! I'm specifically proud of the red and yellow tree. Super Pinteresty!

That concludes my recipe post. Be sure to check out some of the other bloggers who participated in this link up. You can do so by searching the #bloggersbakechristmascookies on Instagram! In the comments, let me know what some of your favorite cookies to make for the holidays are. It's never too late to make more cookies.

Life Update: December

Hey everyone,

I decided that it was time I do another life update. My last one was in September you can click here to check it out.

With school being a high priority of mine, I barely have time to create decent content on this blog. I've been trying really hard to balance my school life with my social life and blog.

First Quarter Grades

Junior year is known for being the hardest year of high school. I couldn't agree more with it's stereotype. I managed to get all A's and B's; not too bad. I definitely worked my butt off in my Concurrent Enrollment Spanish III class. I managed to get an 89.18%. Yes, it kills me, but right now I'm holding a 95.00%. I'm definitely putting in the extra study time to ensure I get an A for the semester.

An Essay On Feminism

Have you read the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne? If so, I'm sure you either loved it or hated it. I hated the way it was written, but I couldn't be more intrigued with the bold views Hawthorne talks about. Hester is one of the first feminist characters, if not the first in American Literature. She is definitely a role model.

I'm currently writing a seven page research paper on those political views. So far, so good! I recently received a 75/75 for my research note cards. When I'm done and if I'm pleased with the final product I'll share it with you all.

Volunteer Work

With love in the air, and soccer being in the off season, I've decided to spend more of my time helping others. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I spend most of my time at clubs, making cat toys for local animal shelters or making treat bags for the elderly.

I also added another activity to my list. I am now packing meals for people who can't afford it. After the first night of doing it, I immediately felt enlightened. I am forever grateful for the roof over my head and the food on my table. If you have any spare time, I would highly recommend dedicating it to someone in need.

(1) It is so much fun. I love doing these things because I am spending time with my family and friends.

(2) Knowing you're helping someone is rewarding enough. I absolutely love putting a smile on peoples' faces. The feeling you get from that single smile is incredible.

On The Blog This New Year

What can you expect on my blog in the new year? Each week I'll be rotating between beauty, fashion, and lifestyle oriented posts. I'm really excited! In January, I'm planning to do a post on my blogging essentials. Hopefully you'll enjoy that when I post it!

Blog Milestones

I am so close to 50,000 views! I am so thankful for everyone who simply takes the time to click on an URL that randomly pops up on their Facebook/Twitter feed. It means a lot to me that people take the time to read my work and comment on it. My goal is to get to 50,000 before the end of the year.

I'm going to try my best to track my progress throughout 2016. My goal will be to reach 100,000 page views by 2017 then. With your help, I'm sure I will be able to do it!

That concludes my life update. As you can see, I've been pretty busy dedicating my time elsewhere to make proper blog posts. To keep up to date with me, follow me on Twitter. You can also check out my second blog where I'm currently taking part in "Blogmas"- sort of.

Christmas Wishlist 2015

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my first Christmas post of 2015! I am so excited to share with you my wishlist. This year, I kept it sweet and simple. If you want to checkout what was on my wishlist last year, click here.

Please note that this is a collab post with my friend Ro, over at Be sure to check out her blog and her post. She included some thing that you may even want to add to your list!

I've been eyeing up Benefit's High Beam highlighter for quite some time now. I read an amazing review on this product the other day. I would love to see what it could do for my skin!

While browsing on Pinterest, I came across a few different bralettes. I found this halter one at Aerie for a relatively cheap price. They look so comfortable!

This is at the top of my list! This year, I really want a monogrammed hoodie or vest. My style ranges from casual, to girly, to boho, but I love to experiment with preppy pieces.

Lastly, I've been meaning to get a new set of makeup brushes. I've had mine for over a year and they're beginning to give out. Overall, I want a new foundation brush and a kabuki brush. If you have any recommendations, please comment them below. I'm not sure which brand to go with.

That concludes my Christmas Wishlist for 2015. Be sure to check out my friend Ro's wishlist on her blog.
